What’s new

New features and improvements, newest first.

October 2026

Free COI checker

  • Anyone can check a certificate of insurance for free at duelantern.com/tools/coi-checker, with no account.
  • See the limits, the earliest expiration date, additional insured, waiver of subrogation and attached endorsement pages, compared with your minimums.
  • The file is deleted as soon as it’s read.
October 2026

Smarter Quick setup for contractors, trucking and restaurants

  • Quick setup now knows the renewal rules for common items: OSHA forklift evaluations every 3 years, DOT medical cards, annual Clearinghouse queries and MVR reviews, Indiana plumbing licenses every 2 years, food manager certificates and more.
  • Each item comes with the right reminder lead time, typical renewal steps and, where there is one, the official license lookup.
  • Trucking: updated for the October 12, 2026 FMCSA change. The driver record, not the paper medical card, is now the proof of medical certification (outside Alaska).
  • Typing a known requirement name when adding one by hand shows its renewal rule and sets the reminder for you.
October 2026

Smarter vendor insurance checks

  • Require the actual endorsement pages, not just a checked box: additional insured (like CG 20 10) and completed operations (CG 20 37). Plus waiver of subrogation.
  • When a vendor uploads a certificate that falls short, they see what’s missing right away, and DueLantern emails them and their insurance agent a plain-English fix list.
  • The agent’s email is read from the certificate and saved, and future certificate requests copy the agent.
October 2026

Sample company, state verification and renewal checklists

  • New here? Load a sample company to see DueLantern working in seconds, then clear it with one click. Sample people never get emails.
  • Each requirement can link to the official state license lookup, and you can record “I verified it today”.
  • Renewal steps: a checklist for what has to happen to renew (training, fee, application). It resets each time a new document is approved.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment.
October 2026

Policy sign-offs

  • Upload your employee handbook or safety policies, and every employee reads and signs on their phone with a private link. No account needed.
  • See who has signed and who hasn’t, send reminders in one click, and download a sign-off report for your records.
  • Upload a new version and everyone is asked to sign again. Works in English and Spanish.
October 2026

ZIP downloads and approval history

  • Download every current document as one ZIP, sorted into folders by employee, vendor and company, with an index spreadsheet. Find it on the Documents page.
  • Filter the ZIP to employees, vendors or company items, or one location.
  • Each requirement’s document history now shows who approved each version and when, and you can download all versions at once.
October 2026

QR badges

  • Print a wallet card or sticker with a QR code for each employee or vendor (More → QR badges).
  • An inspector or client scans it and sees, live, whether that person’s licenses and certifications are current. Documents stay private.
  • Turn off or replace a badge anytime, for example when someone leaves or loses their card.
October 2026

Phone notifications

  • Get a notification on your phone or computer when someone uploads a document, and a daily alert when renewals are coming up.
  • The DueLantern app icon shows how many items need your attention.
  • Turn it on under Settings → Phone notifications. On iPhone, add DueLantern to your home screen first.
October 2026

Slack, Microsoft Teams and Zapier alerts

  • Connect Slack or Microsoft Teams under Settings → Slack, Teams & other apps.
  • Get a message when someone uploads a document, when renewals hit a reminder day, and a Monday summary with your compliance score.
  • Send alerts to Zapier, Make or any webhook to connect DueLantern to thousands of other apps.
October 2026

A cleaner menu and a better phone experience

  • On phones, a tab bar at the bottom: Home, Attention, Renewals, People and More. The Attention tab shows how many items need you.
  • The organization menu is now grouped: Workspace, Add & import, Reports & records, and Your account.
  • Settings are organized into sections, and “More ways to add” puts bulk upload, spreadsheet import and Quick setup in one place.
  • Employee and requirement lists turn into easy-to-read cards on small screens.
  • Accessibility improvements: a skip link, clearer focus outlines, larger tap targets and screen-reader labels. Read our accessibility statement in the footer.
October 2026

Spanish emails and a phone app

  • Set any employee or vendor to Spanish. Their reminder emails, document requests and upload page are in Spanish, while managers still get English.
  • The upload page now opens the camera first, so employees can snap a photo of a card in one tap.
  • Add DueLantern to your phone’s home screen and open it like an app. Look for “Install” on the dashboard on your phone.
October 2026

Locations and custom fields

  • Custom fields: track your own details, like an employee ID, truck number or renewal cost, on employees, vendors and requirements. They’re included in spreadsheet exports.
  • Add your sites under Settings → Locations, then give each employee, vendor and company item a location.
  • Filter the dashboard, requirements, employees and compliance reports by location.
  • Limit a teammate to one location: they only see that site, and get its reminders and overdue alerts.
October 2026

Bulk upload and compliance score

  • Compliance score on the dashboard: one number for how much of your team is fully current, with a breakdown by person and by type.
  • Next 90 days chart: see which weeks have the most renewals coming up. The Monday summary email shows your score too.
  • Drop in up to 50 documents at once. The AI reads each one and matches it to the right employee or vendor and requirement.
  • Check the matches in one list and save them all with one click. New requirements are created for you when needed.
October 2026

Vendor insurance tracking and two-factor login

  • New Vendors page: collect certificates of insurance from subcontractors and suppliers with a private upload link. No vendor account needed.
  • Set your insurance minimums once. The AI reads coverage amounts on each certificate and flags anything below them.
  • Two-factor login with any authenticator app, and owners can require it for the whole team.
  • Clearer checkout: renewal terms up front, a confirmation email, and one-click cancel from the Billing page.
  • AI now reads license and policy numbers, who issued a document, and when. Numbers appear in compliance reports and exports.
  • Name check: you’re warned when the name on an upload doesn’t match the employee or vendor it was sent for.
October 2026

Weekly summary, pause and “renewal in progress”

  • Monday summary email: what’s overdue, what’s due in the next 30 days, and what’s waiting for review.
  • Mark any item as “Renewal in progress” or pause its reminders, then resume with one click.
  • Unsubscribe links on all tips and offer emails.
October 2026

Compliance packets and calendar feed

  • Printable compliance report for inspectors, auditors and insurers.
  • Private share links that expire, can be turned off anytime, and keep documents hidden unless you choose to include them.
  • Calendar feed: see every expiration date in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
October 2026

Activity log, spreadsheet import and editing

  • Activity log: see who added, changed, approved or deleted what, and download it as a spreadsheet.
  • Import your existing tracker from Excel, Google Sheets or CSV, or paste rows directly.
  • Edit any requirement (name, date, owner, first reminder) and any employee.
October 2026

Quick setup and overdue alerts

  • Quick setup: pick your type of business and add the usual requirements in one click.
  • Request documents from your whole team with one button.
  • Overdue alerts to your team when something stays expired.
September 2026

The first version

  • AI reads expiration dates from uploaded documents.
  • Automatic reminder emails before things expire.
  • Employees upload renewals from their phone with a private link, no account needed.
